5 Successful Former Mouseketeers That Aren’t the Ones You Already Thought Of

One of my pandemic comfort foods was watching clips of The All New Mickey Mouse Club (1989–1995) on YouTube. “MMC” originally aired on The Disney Channel for seven seasons in the early 90’s. Featuring sketch comedy, live musical performances, and celebrity guest stars, it was SNL for the teenybopper set. Because Disney was a premium cable channel back then, I could only get my fix of MMC (and its spiritual sibling, Kids Incorporated) during their precious free preview weekends.

MMC launched an entire constellation of showbiz superstars: the first-name-only icons (Britney, Christina, Justin), A-list actors (Ryan Gosling, Keri Russell), and boy band royalty (NSYNC’s JC Chasez and Justin). Too often our focus remains on the once-in-a-lifetime success stories or the child performers gone astray. MMC happened to produce multiple performers who captured lightning in a bottle (or, perhaps, “Genie in a Bottle”). But that doesn’t mean those who didn’t become household names aren’t also worth celebrating.
